“Best Deli Hands Down”Any trip to Toronto should include a visit to this deli. Coming from the west coast I can only compare their smoked meat to really fine sushi. It melts in your mouth, fantastic taste and it is the pinnacle of a deli meat sandwich. Service was friendly and great as well.

“Not Schwartz's, but I don't live in Montreal anymore”Whenever I get my smoked meat fix that needs to be addressed, the centre street special done medium on rye is always the wtg. My kids are not into smoked meat, so happily enjoy the grilled cheese sandwiches with fries on challah bread, and it is the real thing as well. To sum up, the best smoked meat is still in Montreal, but you will still be satisfied in Toronto by going to Centre Street Deli. They have an excellent take-out deli selection as well.

“Best Matzo Ball Soup”We've stopped at Centre Street Deli many times for lunch and always start with the matzo ball soup. It might be the best in the GTA.The omelets are also very good, and the warm pastrami on rye is absolutely wonderful. We've never had a bad meal here.There's almost always a wait if you arrive during peak hours, and sometimes you can't find a parking space. That's how good the food is. The only negative is the price. A pastrami sandwich combo with fries and cole slaw is $13.95 ... steep for lunch. It's not a large sandwich, so you wouldn't share a plate. For three soups, an entree salad, a sandwich combo, and two coffees the bill was $52.The restaurant could use updating, but no one comes here for the decor. We'll certainly go back.

“Consistently DELISH!”It's not near my home, but it's certainly worth the drive to Thornhill. I have yet to try anything on the menu that hasn't left me totally satisfied, but if I had to pick one thing (besides their Old Fashioned Smoked Meat), I'd have to say Salami & Eggs. My very favorite breakfast. They cook it to perfection and add those fries…can we talk about the fries for a second? I always think twice before ordering fries instead of a side salad because I have to make sure it's worth the calories. I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the fries at Centre Street are worth every extra hour on the treadmill.Matzoh Ball and Chicken soup, pea soup, kasha knishes, Old Fashion sandwich, Greek Salad and the list goes on. Also each dish is accompanied by their excellent cole slaw, made just the way I like it - no mayo - just flavor. The service is quick and friendly too, always busy, sometimes line ups. If I have to say anything negative about Centre Street Deli, it's that they close at 8:00 p.m. That mean It's not worth my drive up to Thornhill for dinner if I have to rush to finish my meal. So breakfast, lunch and brunch is what they specialize in and I will go there every chance I get.

“Amazing Montreal Smoked Meat -”I went here for lunch with a friend. I do appreciate a deli, so this was recommended as the best in Toronto. I totally agree, it far exceeded my expectations, which were high to start with.Had the smoked meat (medium) with a greek salad, the greek salad was huge and shared but wasn't cheap.Overall, good value because the food is amazing and the portions are adequate relative to the pricing.Above average staff as well.Can't wait to return.
